ORGANIC AGRICULTURE SYSTEMS (OAS)

Introduction:

Based on the recommendations of QRT (2012-2017), ICAR accepted the formation of Division of Organic Agricultural Systems and it was formed on 6.8.2021 with the following mandate and thrust areas of work.

Mandate of the Division :

To undertake basic and strategic research on different aspects of organic and similar environment-friendly production systems.

Thrust Areas of the Division:

1. Crop improvement program for organic production systems.

2. Nutrient management in different crops and cropping systems under organic production systems.

3. Development of weed, pest and disease management practices for organic production systems.

4. Development and validation of microbial consortia for crop residue recycling and growth promotion under organic farming systems.

5. Studies on natural farming for different crops and cropping systems.

6. Technology demonstration, transfer and human resource development of stakeholders.

Facilities:

1. Field Experimental Unit for organic & Natural Farming.

2. International Standard Referral Laboratory for OFS.

3. Technology Park on Organic & Natural Farming.
